The Popeyes chain continues its expansion in Romania with an establishment in Sibiu

American fast-food restaurant chain Popeyes is continuing its national expansion strategy, opening its first location in Sibiu this week. This opening marks the third new city added to the Popeyes map in 2025, after Iasi and Cluj-Napoca, and brings the total number of restaurants in Romania to 16.

This year’s expansion, concentrated outside the capital, brings the network to nine restaurants in the country’s major cities and seven in Bucharest. According to company representatives, the Sibiu opening is part of a wide-ranging development plan for 2025, with efforts focused on strengthening the national presence.

Founded in New Orleans in 1972, Popeyes is a brand with over 50 years of history, currently operating a global network of over 4,800 restaurants.
