New Wallcarpets Museum in Ciulucani, Telenesti district

The village of Ciulucani in Telenesti district, Republic of Moldova, now has a space dedicated to preserving local crafts: the Museum of Squareweaving. Inaugurated as part of the sixth edition of the festival “Dor țesut în păretare”, the event marked an important step towards protecting the region’s cultural heritage.

The new museum is housed in a traditional house restored by the national program “European Village 2”. Its permanent collection is made up of authentic wall carpets collected from locals during previous editions of the festival, turning a temporary initiative into a permanent institution. The festival is also supported by the Ministry of Culture through the Access to Culture 2025 program.

According to officials and organizers, the museum is not just an exhibition space, but a symbol of responsibility for cultural heritage. It has been conceived as a living space for dialog and creation, where the stories of rural life woven into the stories of the people become visible and continuous, ensuring their transmission to future generations.
