The Interreg NEXT Romania-Republic of Moldova Program Launches the First Call for Standard Projects

The Managing Authority for the Interreg NEXT Romania-Republic of Moldova Program has launched the first call for standard projects, with a budget of 40 million EUR. The call for projects is open for initiatives that bring benefits in the following fields:

  • prevention and combating of natural disasters;
  • education;
  • health;
  • tourism;
  • border management;
  • the deadline for submitting applications is December 8, 2023, at 4:00 PM.

The Interreg NEXT Romania-Republic of Moldova 2021-2027 Program has a budget of 77.3 million EUR, in addition to the contributions of the participating states. The program area consists of the entire territory of the Republic of Moldova and the Romanian border counties – Botoșani, Iași, Vaslui, and Galați.

Projects financed under the program will benefit communities on both sides of the border, with a view to improving education, healthcare, and nature conservation.

The call for projects is open to public and private organizations from Romania and the Republic of Moldova. To be eligible, projects must meet the following criteria:

  • be cross-border, meaning they involve partners from both Romania and the Republic of Moldova;
  • have a positive impact on communities on both sides of the border;
  • be sustainable, meaning they are implemented in a lasting way and have a long-term positive impact.

In addition to the eligibility criteria listed above, projects must fall within the following areas of intervention:

Natural Disaster Prevention and Management

Projects in this area will support the development of natural disaster prevention and response mechanisms, as well as early warning systems.

Projects will also contribute to strengthening the capacity of communities to cope with the effects of natural disasters.

Education

Projects in this area will support the development of cross-border educational programs and activities, as well as cooperation mechanisms between educational institutions in Romania and the Republic of Moldova.

Projects will also contribute to improving the quality of education and promoting the mobility of students and teachers.

Health

Projects in this area will support the development of cross-border health programs and services, as well as cooperation mechanisms between medical institutions in Romania and the Republic of Moldova.

Projects will also contribute to improving access to quality medical services and reducing health inequalities.

Tourism

Projects in this area will support the development of cross-border tourism products and services, as well as cooperation mechanisms between tourism agencies from Romania and the Republic of Moldova.

Projects will also contribute to promoting tourism in the cross-border region and creating new jobs.

Border Management

Projects in this area will support the development of cross-border cooperation mechanisms in the field of border management, as well as border monitoring and surveillance systems.

Projects will also contribute to preventing illegal trafficking of goods and persons and ensuring security in the cross-border region.
