Skay Loft: 60% average occupancy rate in 2020

Entrepreneurs Laura and Adrian Silvestru from Brașov invested €300,000 in the construction of Skay Loft, an accommodation unit for 12 people, built from natural materials.

The couple’s plans include building a similar accommodation to the one in Brașov in Constanța County, in the commune of Istria.

The first tourists at Skay Loft were hosted in August 2019, and until the outbreak of the pandemic, the demand for accommodation was higher than the two entrepreneurs expected. About 70% of the tourists staying here were foreigners and only 30% were Romanians.

Last year, the average occupancy rate was about 60%, and the monthly revenues of the accommodation unit were about €3,000.

The two entrepreneurs plan to build a new apartment this year that would increase the accommodation capacity to 16 people.

At the same time, the two entrepreneurs recently started another business producing miniature Saxon barns, and if this business succeeds, they will be forced to postpone the development plans for Skay Loft.
