Metrorex has announced the issuance of the construction permit for architectural works, the track, and related installations for Metro Line 6, a key stage in the development of transport infrastructure toward Otopeni Airport. The value of the authorized investment amounts to approximately €199.14 million, excluding VAT, and the execution duration is set at 31 months from the actual start date of the works.
The project will be implemented by a consortium led by SOMET S.A., which also includes SALCEF GROUP, THEDA MAR S.A., TIAB S.A., UTI CONSTRUCTION AND FACILITY MANAGEMENT S.A., and ALTIMATE S.A. Currently, efforts are focused on completing the resistance structure along the entire alignment of the future line. On the South Section (1 Mai – Tokyo segment), the execution stage of the structure has reached 66%, while on the North Section (Tokyo – Otopeni Airport), progress stands at 32%.
Regarding tunnel drilling, the two TBM (Tunnel Boring Machine) units are recording steady progress. The “Sfânta Maria” machine, operational on Line 2, has completed over 2,819 linear meters of tunnel and installed 1,875 rings. At the same time, the “Sfânta Ana” TBM, located on Line 1, has covered over 2,122 linear meters and finalized the installation of 1,410 concrete rings.
