We will finally have the highway from Sibiu to Pitesti. When do works start and how much will they cost?

The Olt Valley will be history for drivers wanting to travel quickly from Pitesti to Sibiu. The National Company for Road Infrastructure Administration has approved the route for the last two sections of the highway connecting the two cities.
The route for the Sibiu-Pitesti highway, the first Romanian highway to cross the mountains, is ready. Several variants were considered, and the final one measures 123 km, featuring seven tunnels and dozens of bridges and viaducts. The highway is set to pass through Baiculesti, Curtea de Arges, Tigveni, Valeni, Racovita, and Talmaciu. In total, the road will span approximately 123 kilometers and cost 1.6 billion euros.
Actual works will begin in the first half of 2018, so that by the end of 2021, drivers can use the highway connecting Sibiu to Pitesti, one year earlier than the deadline set in the Master Plan. The construction of this highway was demanded in the streets by thousands of people, employees of the Dacia plant and service providers, and was previously criticized by the former head of Ford Romania, who expressed dissatisfaction with the lack of a high-speed road on this route.
Section 1, Sibiu-Boita, from km 0 to km 15+000, ensures the connection with DN 7 (Olt Valley Gorge) by continuing the existing highway;
Section 2, Boita-Racovita from km 15+000 to km 43+000, connects the locality of Boita with the locality of Racovita;
Section 3, Racovita-Valeni from km 43+000 to km 72+000, provides continuity for the highway through the Baiasului Valley, connecting the Olt Gorge and the Topologului Valley Gorge;
Section 4, Valeni-Curtea de Arges, from km 72+000 to km 90+000, crosses the Topologului Valley and connects with the locality of Curtea de Arges;
Section 5, Curtea de Arges – Pitesti, from km 90+000 to km 123+037, joins the locality of Curtea de Arges with the city of Pitesti and the existing highway through the Arges Valley;
Section 6 targets the rehabilitation of 14 km of National Road, specifically DN 73C, serving as a link road between the Tigveni Interchange and Ramnicu Valcea, as well as the construction of 2.5 km of new road.
