Accor Hotels aims to reach 20 hotel units in Romania in the coming years

The French hotel chain Accor Hotels, which currently operates 7 hotels in Romania through its Polish partner Orbis, intends to double the number of units it owns in Romania in the coming years. Next year, the ibis Styles hotel in Arad and the Mercure hotel in Brasov are also set to be inaugurated.
“Our target is to reach at least 20 hotels in Romania, but I cannot give a deadline for when this objective will materialize. We believe that, given how the market looks and how it is developing, there is room for this number of hotels. But we must analyze which brands and what size the hotels will have so that they fit the local market,” stated Laurent Picheral, CEO of Hotel Services, responsible for Germany, Poland, the Baltic countries, Central Europe, Scandinavia, and the Balkans.
In 2015, Accor Hotels recorded revenues of EUR 5.5 billion. In the last year, the company signed several transactions, including FRHI Holdings, the owner of the Fairmont, Raffles, and Swissotel hotel brands, in a USD 3 billion transaction, becoming the largest global operator in the luxury hotel segment.
Laurent Picheral stated that the market is being analyzed to see which hotel from the Fairmont or Swissotel brands is suitable for Romania.
