MATCA Transylvanian Sanctuary, located in Șimon, near Bran, announces its membership in Relais & Châteaux, the international association renowned for excellence in hospitality and top-tier gastronomy. MATCA Transylvanian Sanctuary is the second hotel in Romania and the first outside of Bucharest to receive this recognition.
As such, starting July 11, the independent hotel—which welcomes guests in 2 traditional Transylvanian houses with 16 guest rooms and 2 private villas overlooking the Piatra Craiului and Bucegi Mountains—joins top hotels worldwide, such as Saint James Paris or Auberge du Soleil in California.
Acceptance into this exclusive association, founded in 1954 and dedicated to owners of luxury hotels and restaurants, as well as lovers of travel and fine dining, comes as recognition of MATCA Transylvanian Sanctuary’s efforts to promote Romanian culture and aesthetics, creating a sanctuary where hospitality and traditions intertwine harmoniously to offer a truly luxurious experience.
The success of the hotel, which opened earlier this year, follows an extremely careful vision focused on quality, protecting biodiversity, and supporting local producers and artisans. Situated in a unique ecosystem within the Bucegi Natural Park, the hotel collaborates with botany and zoology specialists to monitor and protect local flora and fauna, including protected species such as brown bears, lynx, and golden eagles.
