Turism Felix, controlled by Transilvania Investments and in the process of delisting from the Bucharest Stock Exchange, is reconfiguring its development strategy by affiliating three of its hotels in Baile Felix to the international brand ibis Styles, part of the Accor group. The decision cancels a previous agreement for the Mercure brand and marks an important step in the plan to modernize the portfolio, aiming to attract a diversified segment of tourists by adapting to current market trends.
Turism Felix will affiliate the International (4 stars), Termal (3 stars) and Nufărul (3 stars) hotels in the resort of Baile Felix to the ibis Styles brand, operated by the French hotel group Accor. This decision modifies the previously announced plan to affiliate the Hotel International to the Mercure brand, also part of the Accor portfolio, from 2026. Hotel International’s transition to the new brand is scheduled for mid-2027, upon completion of an extensive modernization and refurbishment process. According to the company, the choice of the ibis Styles brand is motivated by its flexibility and alignment with current trends in tourism, which favor a more relaxed style of travel connected to authentic experiences. Management emphasizes that the brand stands out for its unique design tailored to each location and its inspiring social spaces, which will allow it to cater to a diverse range of guests.
The move is part of Turism Felix’s development strategy for 2025-2035 and was anticipated in July 2024, when it was announced that the company was negotiating with international groups such as Accor and InterContinental Hotels (IHG) to affiliate the three units. Turism Felix is 95.06% controlled by Transilvania Investments Alliance (TRANSI), a package that allows it to delist from the stock exchange. The company’s shares have already been suspended from trading in order to carry out the minority shareholders’ withdrawal procedure. At the last recorded trading price, the company’s market capitalization amounted to approximately €40.43 million. The partner in this venture, the French group Accor, is one of the global leaders in the hospitality industry with more than 5,700 properties in over 110 countries, the ibis Styles brand has a presence in 79 countries with over 2,500 locations.
