The President has promulgated the law regarding the marketing of tourist service packages

On December 28, 2017, President Klaus Iohannis signed the decree for the promulgation of the Law approving Government Ordinance no. 26/2017 for the amendment of Government Ordinance no. 107/1999 regarding the activity of marketing tourist service packages.
The Government adopted this ordinance in August, stating that travel agencies operating on national territory and selling tourist service packages or components thereof to individual consumers are obliged to ensure the provision of tourist services or the reimbursement of all payments made by or on behalf of tourists, to the extent that the respective contracted services are not provided due to the travel agency being in financial difficulty, as defined by law.
The Executive also points out that, if passenger transport is included in the contract for the sale of the tourist service package, the travel agency also provides guarantees for the repatriation of tourists.
