The PLF form will be mandatory starting December 20 for entry into Romania
The Government has adopted the emergency ordinance for the implementation of the digital Passenger Locator Form (PLF), which will be mandatory starting December 20 for individuals entering Romania, a document already used in 18 EU states. “Through it, we will streamline epidemiological investigations, and Public Health Directorates (DSP) will be able to identify and contact more easily those who came into contact during their journey with an infected citizen,” stated Prime Minister Nicolae Ciucă.
Other statements by the Prime Minister on the occasion of the adoption:
“The digital entry form for Romania is developed by the STS and must be completed by all persons entering Romania traveling by plane, train, road, or sea transport.
This document can be completed electronically by accessing the site plf.gov.ro, to be filled out and presented at the border crossing points to authorized personnel. The data filled in the form is accessed only by authorized DSP employees and can be used strictly for the purpose of conducting epidemiological investigations.”
What is PLF
The Passenger Locator Form has been implemented in several European countries; for example, it was used by Romanians who visited Greece or Italy this summer.
Public health authorities use the PLF to facilitate contact tracing when passengers are exposed to COVID during travel by plane, train, sea or river, bus, or private car. The information travelers provide in this document can be used by public health authorities in the destination country to contact them quickly.
Countries currently implementing the PLF allow this document to be shown both on paper and digitally using the European Digital Passenger Locator Form (EU dPLF).
How is it done? For countries/regions that have their own PLF system, the European PLF website redirects to the national site. You must register with a valid email address and password, after which you will receive a confirmation email at the provided address.
