The Land of Bucovina Monasteries has won this year’s Grand Prize for “Destination of the Year 2023 in Romania,” a competition now in its third edition, which recorded over 300,000 public votes.
During the organized gala, the winners of the nine categories were announced:
- cultural-educational attractions: Palace of Culture – Iaşi;
- inspiring cities: Brașov;
- natural treasures: Haţeg Country;
- lands of history and tradition: The Land of Bucovina Monasteries;
- tourist resorts: Mamaia;
- amusement and adventure parks: Dino Park Râşnov;
- resorts: Green Village Resort;
- boutique: Pleiada Boutique Hotel;
- gastronomic experiences: Valea Verde Retreat.
In this year’s edition, 60 finalists competed for one of the awards granted in the 9 main categories, plus special awards. Each registered destination received a score based on public votes, the vote of a jury composed of over 100 tourism and communication specialists, and the results of a sociological study, according to a ministry press release.
As the winner of the Destination of the Year competition, 2nd edition, the city of Iași hosted this year’s award gala. Alongside the Ministry of Entrepreneurship and Tourism, partners of this initiative included the Alliance For Tourism, the Institute for Visionary Cities (IOV), the Believe in Romania Association, the Federation of the Romanian Hotel Industry (FIHR), the Federation of Tourism Promotion Associations in Romania (FAPT), RoBoost, Urlaub in Rumänien, the Bucharest Academy of Economic Studies, the Gastro Local Association, and the Association of Ecotourism in Romania (AER).
