Exploring the Open-Air Museum Tourist Route in Romania

The cultural-tourist route of open-air museums in Romania, developed at a national level and recognized by the Ministry of Entrepreneurship and Tourism (MAT), was officially launched on April 23rd in Baia Mare.

The launch took place during an event organized by the Maramureș County Museum of Ethnography and Folk Art, an institution under the Maramureș County Council.

The new tourism product, developed at the initiative of the County Museum of Ethnography and Folk Art in Baia Mare, includes 11 other reference sites in the field of our country’s cultural and ethnographic heritage:

  • Dimitrie Gusti National Village Museum in Bucharest;
  • ASTRA Museum of Traditional Folk Civilization in Sibiu;
  • Maramureș Village Museum in Sighetu Maramureșului;
  • Ethnographic Museum of Transylvania – “Romulus Vuia” National Ethnographic Park in Cluj-Napoca;
  • Museum of Wood Art in Câmpulung Moldovenesc;
  • Țara Oașului Museum in Negrești Oaș;
  • National Museum of Bukovina – Bukovina Village Museum;
  • Haszmann Pal Museum in Cernat, Covasna;
  • Banat Village Museum in Timișoara;
  • Bran Village Museum in Bran, Brașov;
  • Golești Museum of Viticulture and Tree Growing.

The route can also be utilized by domestic and international travel agencies as part of specialized tourism packages.
