The Ice Hotel at Bâlea Lac Returns

The construction of the Ice Hotel at Bâlea Lac is set to begin after a two-year hiatus caused by the pandemic. The Ice Hotel is a unique attraction of its kind in South-Eastern Europe.

Even though winter has fully taken hold at Bâlea Lac, the construction of the new hotel will only commence when the snow layer is sufficiently consistent and the thickness of the ice formed on Lake Bâlea exceeds 20 cm.

The sixteenth season of the “Hotel of Ice – Bâlea Lac” Tourism Marketing Project will have “Europe” as its theme, so each room of the future hotel will bear the name of a capital from the Old Continent. How the new Ice Hotel will look: The Ice Hotel at Bâlea Lac will host a bar and a restaurant, where those interested can consume various foods or drinks, which will be served in various glasses and plates made of ice.

If weather conditions are favorable, the first guests of the Bâlea Lac Ice Hotel for the 2022 – 2023 season will be able to arrive on Christmas Eve. Alongside the hotel, the Ice Church will also be built on the edge of Lake Bâlea.
