During the fourth public debate “Romanian Tourism: Between Impasse and Opportunity,” organized in Suceava by the National Confederation for Female Entrepreneurship (CONAF), the Alliance for Tourism, and the Federation of Businesswomen from the North-East Region, the Mayor of Suceava, Ion Lungu, stated that Suceava City Hall aims to have a functional tourism Destination Management Organization (DMO) by June 2022.
“We want integrated management of tourist destinations, carried out professionally, where the industry is close to the local authority in organizing, developing, and promoting tourism in the destination. The DMO will ensure sustainability and allow for the allocation of an appropriate budget for promotion and organization, so that tourists are attracted to visit a destination in our country, operators are satisfied with the destination’s attractiveness, and the local population feels the benefits of living in a tourist destination,” the Mayor of Suceava specified.
The event brought together the local and regional tourism business environment, local, regional, and national decision-makers, tourism associations, project-initiating organizations, and other employer organizations from the Romanian business environment, with the aim of analyzing and seeking solutions to support and relaunch Romanian tourism.
The conference series “Romanian Tourism: Between Impasse and Opportunity” will continue in November in Cluj and in December in Bucharest. This initiative supports tourism and related services operators in identifying solutions to the problems they face and aims to position Romanian tourism on a sustainable development axis. The National Confederation for Female Entrepreneurship initiated this national project as tourism, severely hit by the coronavirus crisis, seeks solutions to return to normalcy, according to the CONAF press release.
