Racova Hotel in Vaslui, Formerly Owned by Adrian Porumboiu, Sold

The hotel that belonged for a long time to the Porumboiu family and was recently owned by the company Mopan Suceava has been sold to Nomis 2003, a company owned by businessman Cătălin Simion from Dodești.

The transaction value exceeds 3 million EUR, making the Racova Hotel the most expensive building in the municipality of Vaslui.

Nomis 2003 is currently one of Vaslui’s successful construction firms, although its registered office is in Galați. In Vaslui, the company also owns a fish processing plant, Pescom; in Bârlad, it is the majority shareholder of a small hotel and event hall, Ro&Mario; and on the coast in Northern Mamaia, within the Alezzi complex, it has purchased 20 apartments operated as hotel-style rentals.

Nomis 2003 entered the construction market relatively late but has now reached the point of holding the most contracts for both road construction and water and sewage works. It began in 2023 in Dodești, where the firm’s secondary headquarters were located, and today the company owns several work sites in Bârlad and Șuletea, where a bitumen station is installed. In 2023, the company had a turnover of 131 million RON, with a net profit of 16.8 million RON and nearly 300 employees. This company has been profitable since its inception and has evolved from a turnover of 250 thousand RON to reaching 131 million last year over a span of 20 years. It entered the top tier of companies with turnover exceeding 100 million RON in 2020, after doubling its turnover from the 50 million achieved in 2019.

The buyer of the hotel, Cătălin Simion, did not provide many details regarding the takeover of the Racova Hotel, but he specified that he succeeded in purchasing it through a bank lease. For now, he has not disclosed his future plans, but it is certain that he will attempt to revitalize its operations.

The Racova Hotel has a rich history; the county’s major events were held here, and all the personalities who visited Vaslui stayed here. In practice, its existence is intertwined with that of Adrian Porumboiu. Cătălin Simion intends to offer the city a four-star hotel soon. As the number of accommodation spots in Vaslui is not very large, a four-star hotel with quality hotel services could certainly achieve an occupancy rate of over 95%.

Cătălin Simion runs his business together with his wife. They have three children, a daughter and twin boys.
