Meeting on the Coast Between Tourism Employer Associations, ANT, and ANPC
On July 14, tourism employer associations, the leadership of the National Authority for Consumer Protection (ANPC), and the National Authority for Tourism (ANT) held a meeting at a hotel complex in Mamaia Nord.
The President of the Federation of Romanian Tourism Employer Associations (FPTR), Mohammad Murad, stated that Romanian tourism employer associations, particularly those on the coast, have concluded that their interests are common, and these inspections are often welcome, given the need to respect the obligations owners have toward consumers.
He mentioned that 80% of coastal units comply with the law and that some offer better services than in Bulgaria and Turkey.
Murad declared that there are hotel units on the coast offering services far superior to Bulgaria or Turkey; there aren’t many, but they must be encouraged to grow in number, while those that do not comply should be excluded from the system.
„Those who do not comply and create a negative image should be excluded from FPTR, and then the market will not forgive them," emphasized Mohammad Murad.
ANPC President Marius Dunca confirmed in the press conference that the purpose of the inspection actions is common to both state authorities and investors.
He stated that the Romanian seaside offers better services than in other countries and that ANPC receives complaints from tourists dissatisfied with vacations in Bulgaria or Greece.
Dunca also specified that we, as consumers, must also respect the rules imposed by the accommodation unit.
He mentioned that the purpose of this meeting was to present the collaboration existing between economic operators and state institutions.
Marius Dunca wishes to conclude a collaboration protocol between ANPC and FPTR, and also that the presentation of the inspection balance at the end of the summer season be conducted during a meeting attended by the employer associations.
The press conference was also attended by the President of the National Authority for Tourism, Mirela Matichescu, who referred to the inspections carried out by her institution, saying they do not aim to apply as many sanctions as possible, but rather to ensure tourist comfort.
What was the purpose of the meeting in Mamaia Nord?
The purpose was to strengthen collaboration between tourism employer associations and state authorities (ANPC and ANT) to ensure service quality and consumer rights on the Romanian coast.
What percentage of coastal units comply with the law according to FPTR?
According to FPTR President Mohammad Murad, approximately 80% of accommodation and catering units on the Romanian seaside comply with current legal provisions.
What measures are proposed for operators who do not meet standards?
It is proposed to exclude them from employer federations (FPTR) to protect the image of Romanian tourism, subsequently allowing the market to penalize them through lack of demand.
