Romanians are increasingly traveling by plane within the country, a trend reflected especially for the Easter holiday, a period for which domestic flight searches have increased significantly compared to last year, according to an analysis by the website Momondo.ro.
„The fact that Romanians are traveling more and more by plane within the country is also demonstrated as the Easter holidays approach, when we observed a 673% increase in searches, the highest compared to international destinations. We believe that Romanians’ increased interest in staying in the country for Easter was also encouraged by the launch of new flight offers this spring to major airports—Bucharest, Iasi, Cluj, Timisoara—coming from low-cost airlines and beyond,” said Mircea Giurca, marketing manager of Momondo Romania.
The site’s specialists analyzed Romanians’ flight preferences for the period April 13-18, 2017, compared to April 28 – May 3, 2016.
According to data provided by the search engine, Italy and Spain are the European destinations that recorded the most searches for this year’s Easter mini-break.
Romanians’ interest in traveling during this period increased by 240% in flight searches for Italy and by 221% for Spain. Also, Germany recorded a 384% increase compared to 2016, and England attracted 202% more searches compared to last year. France recorded a 184% increase this year.
Other attractive destinations for Romanians for the Easter holidays are Greece, the Netherlands, Belgium, and Portugal.
