The Aro Palace Hotel in Brasov will become the first hotel in Romania to be operated under the international Hyatt Regency brand, after Aro Palace S.A. signed a franchise agreement with the American Hyatt Hotels Corporation. The value of the contract for general design services has been set at €660,000 plus VAT.
Renovation work is scheduled to begin in early 2026 and will cover the entire building. The historic wing of the hotel will be completely reconfigured and transformed into an area for the executive segment. During the modernization process, the hotel will remain open to the public, and the official opening under the new brand is planned for 2027.
Inaugurated in 1939, Aro Palace is an architectural landmark of Brasov, designed by architect Horia Creangă, grandson of writer Ion Creangă. With a capacity of 189 rooms, of which 67 are executive rooms and suites, the hotel is the city’s zero kilometer and one of the most important hospitality destinations outside the capital.
The company Aro Palace S.A., listed on the AeRO market of the Bucharest Stock Exchange, is majority-owned by Transilvania Investments, with a stake of 85.7%. The same company also owns the Capitol Hotel in Brasov, which is in the process of being restructured and is due to reopen at the end of 2025 under the Mercure Brasov Centre brand.
Through the partnership with Hyatt, Brasov enters the international map of premium tourism, consolidating its position as one of the most attractive urban and mountain destinations in Central Europe.
