The Ministry of Economy, Entrepreneurship and Tourism announced on August 17, 2023, that it will provide grants to economic operators in spa and balneoclimatic resorts wishing to invest in tourism, balneary, cultural, sporting, and leisure infrastructure, up to a limit of EUR 200,000. The funds allocated for the current year amount to RON 15 million.
The financial support from the state budget, amounting to a maximum of 50% of the eligible project costs, excluding VAT, aims to contribute to improving the quality of tourist and related services in destinations, including expenses for professional training of staff employed in the HoReCa sector.
The following types of activities will be financed:
- The extension and rehabilitation of tourist reception structures with functions for tourist accommodation, public catering, and spa treatment, including networks for the capture and transport of natural curative factors;
- The construction, extension, and rehabilitation of cultural, sporting, and leisure facilities in spa resorts;
- The acquisition of equipment, furniture, and medical apparatus specific to spa treatments;
- The professional training of staff employed within the structure owned by the beneficiary in the HoReCa field.
The call for projects will be launched in September, with registrations to be conducted exclusively online at www.turism.gov.ro. After completing the dedicated electronic form and attaching the supporting documents, the applications successfully submitted by economic operators will be verified by the Agencies for Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises they belong to, in the order of registration numbers and the approved budget. A beneficiary may register with only one project within the call.
The exact date on which registration will be active, as well as the period during which applications can be submitted, will be announced on the institution’s website at least 3 working days before the start of the actual registration process, in accordance with the program’s implementation procedure.
