Fundatia Pro Economica Alapitvany, with the support of the Hungarian Government, will invest approximately 44 million EUR in non-reimbursable funds into several tourism projects in Transylvania over the next 2 years.

Through a project selection process, 11 tourism development projects have already been chosen and approved, specifically hotels of at least 4 stars and additional tourism facilities.

According to initial estimates, these projects will generate approximately 500 new jobs and total investments of about 100 million EUR.

Out of the more than 100 projects reviewed by Pro Economica, 50 represent ongoing investments in the form of farms and agricultural processing facilities, and 11 represent 4 and 5-star hotels to be built in Mures, Harghita, and Covasna counties. These 11 hotels will generate nearly 500 new jobs and total approximately 700 accommodation rooms.

Among the funded projects is a complex with 20 apartments in Varsag, Harghita county, as well as a 115-room hotel built in Targu Mures.

The strategy developers and the Hungarian Government have unanimously set the goal of launching a Transylvanian economic development support system as a so-called pilot program and then providing various regional assistance, taking local needs into account.
