Eximtur: 18% sales growth in Q1 2018

In the first three months of this year, sales for the Eximtur travel agency increased by 18% compared to the same period last year, reaching over 18 million EUR.

Almost two-thirds of this amount comes from the sale of business travel services and corporate event organization, a segment that recorded, in turn, a 13% increase.

Sales of holidays abroad grew by 45%, with the number of tourists reaching 15,635, up 26% compared to the first quarter of 2017, while domestic tourism grew by 23% in terms of sales and by 20% in terms of the number of tourists, reaching 27,677.

The high demand for domestic tourism is also a consequence of the introduction of holiday vouchers; out of the total payments, 15% were made with such vouchers, an 85% increase compared to last year.

The most sought-after destinations on the Black Sea coast are Mamaia, Eforie Nord, and Venus, while for spa and mountain tourism, Baile Felix, Sovata, and Calimanesti-Caciulata are the top choices.

Significant increases, of over 70%, were also recorded for packages including spa treatments, and the „Hai la bai” and „Litoralul pentru toti” programs recorded increases of 91% and 116%, respectively.

Regarding foreign holiday sales, Turkey is at the top of the destinations, with an increase of nearly 300% in the number of packages sold in the first quarter of this year compared to the same period in 2016, followed by Greece and Bulgaria.

Sales of circuits and cruises in non-EU areas recorded a 76% increase.
