EUR 75-80 million investment wave in the Iasi hotel market

Iasi’s hotel market is gearing up for a major expansion, backed by an estimated EUR 75-80 million investment wave that will add about 670 new rooms in the coming years. The five hotel projects, scheduled for completion between 2028-2029, respond to the growing demand from the corporate, medical tourism and events sectors, which have boosted the city’s economic dynamics.

The new investment cycle targets the upper end of the market and includes four four-star and one five-star hotel. The Brizo project, developed by Cableways, will be the city’s first five-star hotel with a capacity of 150 rooms. It is followed by the Continental Forum, a four-star hotel with 153 rooms, which is in the approval stage. The Silk District mixed-use project, developed by Prime Capital, will include a 160-room hotel unit. The list is completed by Hanul Trei Sarmale, a 102-room four-star hotel (developer Fio Group), and Breazu Forrest, a 100-room project in the north of the city (developer Buz Residence).

These developments, mostly backed by local capital and regional entrepreneurial groups, come in a context marked by the absence of international hotel chains, although brands such as Radisson Blu have previously shown interest in the local market. The current expansion of the hotel offer, which will address the shortage of rooms felt during peak periods, could create the conditions for attracting global operators. The new units will contribute to the maturation of the market by aligning with modern standards of operation, design and sustainability, strengthening Iasi’s potential to become a competitive regional center in the business and lifestyle segment.
