The owners have launched a €2 million investment in the capital renovation of Hotel Târnava in Odorheiu Secuiesc.
We are talking about a hotel with 75 rooms spread over 5 floors, built between 1969 and 1971; it survived the ’77 earthquake and has undergone many renovations over the years.
The hotel underwent its first extensive renovation in 2001, the year it was acquired by László János, a businessman from Odorheiu Secuiesc. From November 2001, it was in continuous operation until 2020.
In 2021, the second extensive renovation began, a process during which it was mandatory to close the unit.
The financial capital that the László family is investing in the rehabilitation and renovation of Hotel Târnava comes from both HoReCa industry financing and private sources, the latter being the majority of the amount.
The current project began in 2021 with the demolition and structural fortification of the building, followed by the implementation of new energy systems, ventilation and air conditioning systems, the restructuring of spaces, and, of course, the aesthetic part, the finishes. Practically, all implementations that no longer met today’s regulations or efficiency standards were eradicated. Taking into account more than 20 years of experience in the field, the company adapted its way of operating according to the requirements of the tourism market, and day-to-day operational processes were rethought.
In addition to the finishes of the rooms and bathrooms, some were enlarged or partially opened to facilitate the creation of apartment-type rooms and junior suites on the upper floors of the building, so it currently has 66 rooms.
On the ground floor of the hotel, the renovation of the reception, the conference room, and the event halls was completed. The hotel resumed its activity in May 2022 for guest accommodation.
They didn’t just renovate the hotel, they also expanded it; and by expansion, we mean adopting new uses for spaces that were not used in the past. The first example in this regard would be the rooftop terrace, the first terrace of its kind in Harghita County, on the tallest commercial building in the city center, open to the public since August 2022. The second project is the placement of the Bistro in a new location, which opened in October 2022.
Work is currently underway on the reconstruction, enlargement, and modernization of the spa and wellness center, which is set to open in the near future.
The goal of the project in the development process is to achieve a building with high energy efficiency, thus ensuring the company’s long-term functionality.
