Craiova’s Christmas Fair has been named the winner of the competition for the most beautiful Christmas market in Europe, a result that puts the city on the map of European seasonal tourism. The victory was achieved through a significant mobilization of votes, including from key international markets, indicating a potential for increased external visibility for the municipality.
According to the official announcement made by Mayor Lia Olguța Vasilescu, the Craiova fair has accumulated a total of 142,687 votes. The final result was more than 56,000 votes ahead of the second-placed competitor. A key component of the success was international support, with over 55% of the total votes coming from outside Romania. Among the main countries contributing to this result were the USA, the UK, France, Belgium, Germany, France, Belgium, Germany and Spain, with the Craiova fair ranking first or in the top three in each of these countries.
