“Come to Banat!” is the project through which APDT promotes tourism in Timis County

The Association for the Promotion and Development of Tourism (APDT) in Timis County will promote, for the first time, the Timis tourist destination within “RePatriot Turism Talks,” an initiative to promote Romania as a tourist destination on the international market with the help of Romanians worldwide.

Under the title “Come to Banat!”, APDT Timis, together with representatives of Timisoara municipality and the Timis County Council, tour guides, and the county’s hospitality industry, will present the Timis destination through live interventions from Opera/Victory Square and promotional films broadcast on the ZOOM platform and the RePatriot Facebook page, announced the executive director of APDT Timis, Delia Barbu.

The most awaited moment will be the designation of winners by the European Cultural Tourism Network (ECTN) during the 14th edition of the International Conference for Cultural Tourism in Europe, scheduled in Athens, Greece.

One of APDT Timis’s successful projects is “Breakfast in Margina,” which is on the list of European finalist projects in the Destination 2021 for Sustainable Cultural Tourism competition, launched by ECTN – European Cultural Tourism Network.

The “Breakfast in Margina” project was launched by APDT Timis in collaboration with the Margina Tourist Center in May 2017. In the first three years, the project led to an increase in the number of tourists in the destination, from zero to over 5,000 visitors from the country and around the world.

Today, the project highlights local culture and traditions, crafts, and gastronomy, and has encouraged several locals to stop selling their animals to continue traditional horse-drawn carriage rides, inspired the local community to associate and work together, rediscover hidden treasures in attics in the form of long-forgotten handicrafts, or capitalize on special local products.

The event organized by RePatriot Turism in Timisoara will bring together professionals who can convince that Banat “is the leader,” offering an overview of the special tourism opportunities the destination provides.
