City Grill business up 13% in first ten months amid more selective market

The City Grill Group, the largest Romanian-owned restaurant operator, recorded a turnover of EUR 63.5 million in the first ten months of 2025, marking an increase of 13% compared to the same period of the previous year. This development is taking place in a context of a repositioning of the HoReCa market, in which consumers are becoming more selective and prioritize quality and predictable experiences.

According to the company, the behavior of urban consumers has shifted, as they are more demanding and are turning to validated locations that offer consistency. Daniel Mischie, CEO of City Grill Group, noted an increase in group bookings and larger meals, emphasizing the role of restaurants as essential spaces for socializing and connecting. This trend is backed by international reports, such as the World Health Organization’s 2025 report, which identifies community spaces, including restaurants, as vital social infrastructure to combat isolation. At the same time, the average value of a voucher in the group has increased to 273 lei (approximately EUR 53.7), with the highest values recorded in the iconic locations such as Pescăruș, Hanu’ lui Manuc, Hanu’ Berarilor Oprea Soare and Caru’ cu Bere.

Founded in 2004, City Grill Group operates a diversified portfolio of brands, including Caru’ cu Bere, Hanu’ lui Manuc, Pescăruș, Hanu’ Berarilor, Buongiorno.Italian and City Grill. In addition to these, the group owns La Boheme hotel and more recent projects such as Aubergine, Marty Restaurants and the Zooma events complex in Corbeanca.
