Caraiman Cabin in Bucegi Purchased by Romanian Violinist

Alexandru Tomescu, the renowned Romanian violinist, has purchased the Caraiman Cabin in the Bucegi Mountains, which he intends to restore and reintegrate into the tourist circuit.

The Caraiman Cabin in Bucegi, which has been in a state of disrepair for several years, was put up for sale three years ago, initially for approximately 200,000 EUR. The former owner, a British citizen who had owned it for 16 years, did not find a buyer at that time.

Passionate about mountain hiking and a member of the Romanian Alpine Club, violinist Alexandru Tomescu negotiated the purchase of the cabin through intermediaries for six months. The final price was lower than the starting price.

Now, the owner plans to restore the cabin, which is expected to re-enter the tourist circuit and provide shelter to those who venture into the area.

The cabin was built in 1937 at an altitude of 2025 m, in the Bucegi plateau area. From its terrace, one can admire the slopes of Caraiman and Jepii Mici, the Bușteni resort, the Baiului Mountains, the Ciucaș Mountains, and, on clear days, the Siriu Mountains.
