The Cahul district consolidates its position on the regional tourism map with the launch of the cross-border project CROSS2MAP (“Interactive online map to promote sustainable tourism in Galati County and Southern Development Region of Republic of Moldova”).
The initiative, carried out by the “Dunărea de Jos” University of Galati in partnership with the “B. P. Hasdeu” State University of Cahul, will create a digital platform and an interactive map to promote cultural, natural and gastronomic tourist attractions in Galati County and the South of the Republic of Moldova (Cahul, Taraclia, UTA Gagauzia).
“The project will increase the region’s tourist visibility, attract visitors and boost local hospitality and tourism businesses,” said Sergiu Cornea, rector of Cahul University, emphasizing that the initiative transforms Cahul into a hub of sustainable tourism in the south of the country.
The project has a value of 333.297,51 EUR, is financed by the Interreg VI-A NEXT Romania – Republic of Moldova Program and will run for 18 months.
