Simona Constantinescu, CEO of Ana Hotels, the hospitality group controlled by businessman George Copos, explained how the new tourist profile, correlated with the evolution of the local and international business environment, has reconfigured the Ana Hotels group’s business strategy.
The main plan involves the modernization and renovation of the hotels owned under the group’s umbrella. It began with the renovation of the Athénée Palace Hotel in the autumn of 2020.
Since the beginning of this year, one of Bucharest’s landmark buildings, the Athénée Palace hotel, has been operating under the InterContinental brand. For 26 years, the Athénée Palace hotel was affiliated with the Hilton hotel chain. However, as of January 1, 2023, the hotel bears the name “InterContinental Athénée Palace Bucharest.” The contract with InterContinental Hotels Group PLC was signed for a 20-year period. The investment in the hotel’s renovation exceeded €40 million.
Regarding the distribution diversity of the hotel units owned by the Ana Hotels group, this autumn, the group launched a new renovation and modernization process. This time for the Europa hotel in Eforie Nord. The investment value will exceed €10 million and involves both the renovation of the Europa hotel and the Ana Health Spa center in Eforie Nord.
It is estimated that the renovation process will be completed in May 2024.
The thermal rehabilitation and renovation of the Europa hotel in Eforie Nord will be carried out with partial funding through a project co-financed by the European Union through POIM.
In the coming period, the rehabilitation of the InterContinental Athénée Palace Bucharest will also be finalized, which in this stage includes the restaurant & terrace area, Cafe Athénée, and the SPA center.
After completing these projects, the group will begin the modernization process of the Sport Hotel in Poiana Brașov.
Ana Hotels “Europa” has a capacity of 221 rooms, a 400-seat restaurant, a conference center, an indoor pool with water from Lake Techirghiol, an outdoor pool, and a SPA center with mud and saltwater therapies and wellness, beauty, and relaxation treatments.
Currently, the Ana Hotels group owns and operates the InterContinental Athénée Palace Bucharest, “Crowne Plaza Bucharest,” three hotel units in Poiana Brașov – Ana Hotels “Sport,” “Bradul,” and “Poiana,” and “Ana Hotels Europa,” which includes the “ANA Aslan Health Spa” center in Eforie Nord, as well as the operator of the ski lifts in Poiana Brașov – ANA Teleferic, which recently added the Panoramic restaurant on Tâmpa Peak, Brașov, to its portfolio.
