Alin Burcea, owner of the tour operator Paralela 45, estimates that travel agencies will likely record 40% of the sales volume achieved in 2019 this year.

He also specified that following several discussions and consultations with the business community, authorities are about to guarantee 100% of the vouchers offered by travel agencies as an alternative to refunds for unfulfilled trips.

The most sought-after destination for Romanian tourists was the seaside. Until October, sales proportions will likely show that 80% were for the coast, with the remainder for the mountains, spa areas, the Danube Delta, Romanian cities, or mansion estates.

Demand for hotels, villas, and guesthouses in the mountains, spa areas, and mansions—domestic tourism in general, which offers a much richer selection than international options—is on the rise this autumn.

In September, the agency launched the domestic holiday campaign “It’s Romania’s Autumn,” featuring highly advantageous offers for more than 500 accommodation units across over 80 tourist areas.
