Albalact Founder Prepares to Open a 5-Star Hotel

Entrepreneur Raul Ciurtin, the developer of Albalact, is preparing the inauguration of Elania Resort, a multifunctional center with 6 event rooms, a SPA, and a 5-star hotel—a €20 million investment realized on the site of the former Făget camping near Cluj-Napoca.

It is a personal investment; the event section was inaugurated in February, and the second development phase will follow with a 54-room hotel.

The Elitis Events Center, which is already operational, includes 6 event halls with a total capacity of 1,270 seats.

Raul Ciurtin, alongside Florin Mariș and the family of Călin and Alina Dobra, is now also working on the construction of the second residential development stage, which will include 275 apartments within the Estoria City complex being developed on the site of the former Policolor industrial platform in eastern Bucharest.

Entrepreneur Raul Ciurtin studied medicine and completed a two-year internship in Satu Mare as a general practitioner. In 1999, he became an entrepreneur by taking over Albalact. He bet on new brands and the rebranding of existing ones, transforming the nearly bankrupt company into a market leader. In 2016, he sold it to the French giant Lactalis.

He also developed the producer of canned goods, pâtés, and vegetable spreads, Prefera Food. Then, gradually, he sold off brands—first in 2022 to Verdino, and then this year to the Morad group. Now, he is turning his attention toward the tourism sector.
