Agetur travel agency, one of the oldest firms of its kind in the country, founded in 1990, has entered insolvency. Last year, the agency recorded a turnover of 12 million RON.
Currently, more than 500 tourists who had already paid advances for vacations abroad have money to recover from Agetur.
The agency’s provisional judicial administrator stated that they will, however, only receive half of the amounts paid.
The insolvency, approved by the court, was triggered at Agetur’s request. CAPI Țigănuș Anton & Țigănuș Radu was appointed as the provisional judicial administrator.
Anton Țigănuș stated that Agetur is a victim of the tourism collapse generated by the coronavirus pandemic.
“Flights and international departures were suspended for a period of three months. The money received as advances from tourists was paid to hotels abroad for international bookings, and the government did not support this economic activity in any way,” Țigănuș specified.
He pointed out that Agetur received advances from clients totaling 360,000 EUR and 400,000 RON.
Agetur’s debts to suppliers amount to 1.5 million RON, but in total, according to the balance sheet, the liabilities rise to 10 million RON.
