“The Sibiu County Council and Wizz Air Hungary Ltd concluded at the beginning of December 2021 the financial aid agreement based on the State Aid Scheme to support airline activity in the context of the economic crisis generated by the COVID-19 pandemic, authorized by the European Commission through Decision no. SA59156, issued on 20.11.2020,” according to a press release issued by CJ Sibiu.
Wizz Air is the third airline to benefit from the state aid scheme funded by CJ Sibiu, alongside Lufthansa and Austrian Airlines, with whom contracts were signed in July and November, respectively.
According to the contract, Wizz Air commits to operating flights for 12 consecutive months to and from Sibiu International Airport and will receive 1.3 EUR/allocated seat from the Sibiu County Council, with the state aid value totaling 379,213.9 EUR.
Wizz Air must ensure a minimum of two weekly frequencies during the committed period: December 1, 2021 – November 30, 2022.
