Vola.ro estimates a 30% increase in sales this year

Online travel agency Vola.ro estimates sales of approximately EUR 80 million for this year, an increase of 30% compared to the previous year.
In terms of turnover reported to the Ministry of Finance, which in Vola’s case includes only commissions from mediated transactions, the agency recorded EUR 4.2 million in the first half of the year, 18.5% more than in the first six months of 2017.
For the full year 2018, Vola estimates a turnover of EUR 8.6 million and a volume of mediated transactions of EUR 80 million.
“In the context of investments in marketing and technology, but also the insolvency or market exit of some competitors (Paravion, Tripsta), we are in a continuous consolidation of market share and, in 2018, we estimate a growth of over 30%. For the end of the year, we are preparing to simplify the process of purchasing travel services through technological innovations,” stated Daniel Truica, CEO and one of the founders of Vola.ro.
May brought Vola.ro an advance of 21.3% compared to the same period of the previous year, and June brought a growth of 32%.
The Vola.ro team currently has 100 employees, the largest department being Customer Relations.
This year, the agency has sold over 170,000 flight tickets. The cheapest flight ticket cost only EUR 6/person to Brussels, and the most expensive flight ticket cost nearly EUR 6,000 and was for Washington.
The most requested destination for flight tickets purchased on Vola.ro in the first half of the year remains Bucharest, followed by London, Cluj, Iasi, Milan, Rome, Brussels, and Paris. Dynamic growth was recorded for destinations such as Israel, Cyprus, and Canada.
