Vacaresti Natural Park in Bucharest will be monitored and guarded non-stop to prevent further waste dumping in this protected area. The measure will be implemented once the cleanup process, which began on May 23, is completed.
Bulldozers, excavators, and trucks have been deployed on-site to remove all construction waste illegally dumped in recent years. Additionally, heavy-duty earthmoving equipment and dump trucks were used to level the service road on the crest of the earth dam. Furthermore, concrete blocks will be installed as part of the action to restrict unauthorized vehicle access.
By a Government Decision dated May 16, 2016, the Vacaresti reservoir was declared a natural park, thus becoming a protected natural area.
Vacaresti Natural Park is the largest urban natural park in Europe, featuring 190 hectares of green space and 97 species of birds and mammals.
