The Kempinski Hotel does not yet have a construction permit because the developer’s team is currently working with a team from the international Kempinski group to finalize the hotel project. This could be ready in approximately 3-6 months, after which the company will apply for the construction permit.
The investment amounts to EUR 70 million and will mark Rock Holding’s entry into a new segment, hospitality. The project will be financed through equity funds and bank loans.
Rock Holding intends to build the future Kempinski hotel on the shores of the lake in Poiana Braşov, in front of the Aurelius Hotel, while the aparthotel—the second part of the project announced by the investor—will be located between Șura Dacilor and Împăratul Romanilor, about 300 m from the lake.
The company that owns the two plots of land is Rock Mountain, a firm owned 95% by Rock Development Holding and 5% by Meta Estate Trust.
The Braşov City Hall, which administers Poiana Braşov, states that the companies Rock Development Holding and Rock Mountain have not requested any construction permits for a hotel in the municipality of Braşov, including Poiana Braşov, in the last three years.
“According to information provided by the Construction Authorization Service, we inform you that, in the last three years, the mentioned companies, namely Rock Development Holding and Rock Mountain, have not requested construction permits for hotels in the municipality of Braşov,” say representatives of the Braşov City Hall.
Rock Development Holding, a real estate development company in the Bucharest residential market, has entered into a partnership with the Kempinski Hotels group, as a result of which the chain will open its first unit in Romania, being the first five-star hotel in Poiana Braşov. The project will attract an investment of EUR 70 million from Rock Holding, set to be the first five-star luxury hotel complex in the Transylvania region. The project will also mark Rock Holding’s entry into the Romanian hospitality market.
The hotel will feature extensive SPA and wellness facilities, three international fine-dining restaurants, a conference center, and space for organizing corporate and private events.
Kempinski has 82 luxury hotels and residences in ultra-luxury destinations across Europe, Asia-Pacific, the Middle East, Africa, Central America, and the Caribbean, with an additional 26 projects currently under development.
