DER Touristik Group, part of the German REWE group, has finalized the transaction through which it takes over all tourism activities – tour operating, retail, business travel, and incoming – of the Eurolines Romania group, owned by Dragos Anastasiu.
Until the moment of the transaction, these activities were carried out through three distinct companies (Touring Europabus, Danubius Travel, and Nova Travel).
The transaction, which was signed in the summer by the two groups from Romania and Germany and previously approved by the Competition Council, was set to materialize this autumn.
Following the acquisition finalized today, the DER Touristik group takes over approximately 400 employees, 80 retail agencies, as well as tour operating and incoming activities. Additionally, starting in October, the Travel Brands travel agency network will operate under the Dertour brand. All employees and all offices will be retained, and current clients will continue to be served by the same collaborators, with the same contact details and in the same locations as before.
As has been the case until now, Travel Brands agencies will sell both DER Touristik Group products and the products of 45 other German and Romanian tour operators, as well as flight and coach tickets, maintaining their character as a Travel Hypermarket in the future.
The German investor decided to keep the local management for Dertour agencies under the leadership of Cosmin Marinof, Managing Director, who previously held the position of Sales Director for the tourism operations of the Eurolines Group.
The Eurolines Group owns 80 agencies under the TUI TravelCenter, TravelBrands, and Eurolines brands, with an annual sales turnover of approximately 150 million EUR.
DER Touristik Group is one of the largest tourism companies in Europe. Headquartered in Germany, the Group owns 130 companies with over 10,500 employees in 15 countries, accumulating a turnover of 6.7 billion EUR.
