After more than half a century in operation, the cable car that provides access to the Tâmpa mountain in Brasov is being replaced. Rehabilitation work started last month and the new installation is scheduled to open in October. Until then, cable transportation is suspended.
The new gondola lift, produced by Austrian company Carvatech, will have a capacity of 500 people per hour. Carvatech has 75 years of experience and produces more than 400 gondola lifts annually for international destinations.
The project is part of a larger program that also includes the modernization of the Panoramic restaurant. The investment, estimated at 16 mil. EUR is made by Ana Teleferic, a company controlled by businessman George Copos.
