The Romanian spa market grew last year by approximately 10%, reaching 23.1 million EUR, according to estimates by Travelle – Wellness Escapes.
In 2016, the Romanian spa market turnover was approximately 21 million EUR, of which 12.4 million EUR came from spa access, pool areas, saunas, and other facilities. The remaining 8.4 million EUR represents the equivalent of 241,316 spa treatments performed for 175,560 unique clients.
The consulting firm despreSpa.ro and the travel agency Travelle have created the first travel agency specialized in wellness in Romania, Travelle – Wellness Escapes.
In 2016, an average turnover growth of 9% was recorded compared to 2015. These figures pertain to relaxation services, but other types of services that may be offered adjacently in spa centers were not included in the statistics: weight loss treatments, fitness, nor therapies performed in balneotherapy treatment centers, etc.
