The Old Princely Court Palace will be restored and transformed into a museum. The initiative belongs to the Bucharest City Hall, which has already taken the first steps in this direction.
The medieval ensemble of the Old Princely Court Palace is located in the historic center of Bucharest. According to a specialized report prepared within the Bucharest City Hall, the building is located in protected zone 26a – the traditional commercial core – Lipscani area, subzone CP1a, which benefits from a maximum degree of protection for architectural-urban, historical, and existing natural environment values.
”Currently, the portion of the old princely palace cleared, restored, and partially reconstructed until 1972 consists of a body with cellars covered in a walkable terrace, a body that spans four bays covered with cylindrical vaults and double arches supported on massive masonry pillars. In the eastern part of the body, three bays of the former palace are still preserved in various states of conservation. In the northern area, the ruins of the former Turkish bath are preserved, consisting of a basement covered with a cylindrical vault and protected by a temporary roof. Additionally, besides these, a set of walls marking the outline of the former princely palace has been preserved in the form of ruins,” shows the report (http://www4.pmb.ro/wwwt/institutii/CGMB/sedinte/ordinea_de_zi/db/07_20180517.pdf) published on the Bucharest City Hall (PMB) website.
