The Grand Hotel, located in the city center of the Black Sea coast city, has been for sale for several years for a sum exceeding EUR 1 million.
The Grand Hotel, built between 1915 and 1920 in an art-deco style and situated at the intersection of Ferdinand and Tomis Boulevards, has yet to find a buyer. This was the first hotel in Constanța to benefit from electricity and central heating.
Last year, the first and second floors of the Grand Hotel were for sale, and now the entire building is listed, as follows: a 200 sqm ground-floor commercial space, two hotel floors with 36 rooms, eight bathrooms, and an upper terrace. The land area is 716 sqm, and the height regime is B+GF+2 Floors.
An important businessman of Greek origin, Stavro Dumitru, purchased a plot of land with a total area of 1,450 square meters from the Constanța City Hall in 1912. Its price was 98,870.50 RON, and eight years later, in 1920, the doors of the hotel opened, quickly becoming one of the city’s significant landmarks: the Grand Hotel. Construction lasted five years, with plans executed by the French architect Edgar de Goue.
