The project regarding the de minimis scheme has been launched for public debate
Constantin-Daniel Cadariu, the Minister of Entrepreneurship and Tourism, stated that the ministry has launched for public consultation the de minimis scheme that will contribute to repositioning Romania as a competitive destination. Specifically, expenses incurred by economic operators for organizing incoming tourism packages will be partially reimbursed with funds from the state budget. The initiative will facilitate the economic activity of the private sector, which translates into attracting foreign tourists, increasing tourism revenues and, consequently, increasing tourism’s contribution to GDP, the minister specified.
According to the project, tourism operators will be able to receive 40 EUR for each foreign tourist who has purchased and paid for, through an incoming tourism organizing agency in Romania, a tourist stay or circuit of at least four nights of accommodation. Additionally, they could receive 2 EUR for each extra night spent, beyond the four, within the same stay or tourist circuit.
The total estimated value of the aid that can be granted under the de minimis aid scheme, throughout its duration, namely from the date of adoption until December 31, 2023, is a maximum of 20 million RON, within the limits of the budgetary and commitment credits approved annually through the state budget law.
The maximum number of economic operators that will benefit from support is estimated at 1,200 (organizing travel agencies that can conduct incoming tourism), and registrations for the program will be carried out exclusively digitally, through a new computer application.
