The 6 destinations in Romania entering the final phase of the Destination of the Year 2022 Competition have been chosen
The six finalist cities in Romania that will compete for the title of Destination of the Year 2022 are:
Brasov
Iasi
Targoviste
Darmanesti
Brezoi
Toplita
The first three are in the City Break category, and the last three – the Tourist Localities category.
Even if they are not on the list of finalists, the jury members wanted to grant a special recommendation for Sibiu in the City Break category and Sfantu Gheorghe – Danube Delta in the Tourist Localities category.
Other destinations that qualified for the regional phase: Oradea, Timisoara, Hunedoara, Suceava, Galati, Bucharest, Buzias, Vama Buzaului, Savarsin, Sovata, and Valea Doftanei.
Starting May 5th, the public can vote for their favorite destination among the six on the competition website, www.destinatiaanului.ro.
The cities in the final will also benefit from promotion in the international press and at major tourism fairs in Europe.
Destination of the Year is a competition to promote domestic tourism, now in its second edition. It is organized in partnership with the Ministry of Entrepreneurship and Tourism and the Alliance for Tourism.
In the final stage of the competition, the destinations that receive the highest scores will be promoted nationally in May, June, July, and August on social media and in the mass media.
At the same time, the Destination of the Year 2022 competition, which promotes tourist destinations in Romania, is also featured on a German website with over 2 million users per month.
The project aims to promote information of interest to German tourists through social media and mass media.
For our country, they represent the audience with the highest growth potential, ranking first in terms of visitors and accounting for 13% of the total number of foreign tourists.
