Spark Hospitality, a Romanian hotel operator, marks its first international expansion in Austria

Spark Hospitality is a Romanian hotel operator managing independent and branded hotels across Romania. Founded in 2023, the company announces its first international expansion, assuming the commercial management of Salzburger Hof Hotel Collection in Bad Gastein, Austria, a portfolio of seven hotels totaling more than 250 rooms and apartments.

Located in the Salzburg region, Bad Gastein has long been recognized as one of Austria’s most distinctive alpine spa destinations, historically attracting European aristocracy and cultural figures for its thermal waters, mountain air and Belle Époque architecture. Today, the town combines iconic natural landmarks — including the central waterfall and the Stubnerkogel suspension bridge — with established wellness infrastructure such as thermal spas and the Gastein Healing Gallery, one of the few radon therapy centers worldwide.

Salzburger Hof Hotel Collection comprises seven centrally located 3- and 4-star hotels offering over 250 rooms and apartments, together with extensive spa and wellness facilities, restaurants, bars and six conference and event venues. The hotel group is part of the Ski Amadé area, providing access to approximately 760 kilometers of ski slopes.

For the first time, the hotel collection will operate year-round, with hotels open across all 12 months, including the spring season, in addition to the traditional winter and summer peaks. The extended operating calendar enables dedicated Easter and spring packages, summer and autumn leisure offers, as well as tailored solutions for corporate guests, conferences and group events.

“We are proud to welcome Salzburger Hof Hotel Collection into our portfolio and to mark Spark Hospitality’s entry into the Austrian market. We strongly believe that Bad Gastein and the hotels within the collection have solid year-round growth potential, and our focus will be on increasing their visibility so that more guests can discover the authentic experience the destination offers,” said the representatives of Spark Hospitality.

For 2026, the company aims to increase the collection’s average occupancy rate by approximately 10%. Romania is considered a key source market, given its proven affinity for Austria and, in particular, the Gastein Valley.

By integrating this portfolio, Spark Hospitality further strengthens its position as an independent hotel operator with one of the most extensive local presences in Romania, managing upper-midscale and premium properties, while continuing its expansion strategy both locally and internationally.

Spark Hospitality is a Romanian hotel operator providing full hotel management services, as well as dedicated commercial management mandates for independent and internationally branded hotels, with a focus on performance and profitability.
