Senate President, Calin Popescu-Tariceanu, stated that restaurants, guesthouses and, in general, small tourism businesses will be taxed based on turnover and not on reported profit.
The measure will be included in a legislative initiative that will be submitted to Parliament by the ALDE group – Alliance of Liberals and Democrats – and by the PSD group, Tariceanu specified.
„It is not a measure that addresses large hotel chains. It is not a lump-sum tax, a turnover ceiling will be established for which tax on turnover will be paid, not on profit,“ stated Calin Popescu-Tariceanu.
Prime Minister Victor Ponta announced that he supports the measure of the so-called special tax.
