The city of Sibiu was included among the top 5 best European tourist destinations, obtaining over 15,000 more votes than in last year’s competition.

In January, the city of Sibiu was nominated, for the second consecutive year, on the list of the top 20 European tourist destinations by the European Best Destinations Association, with the competition to establish the ranking taking place between January 20 and February 10.

Thus, following the vote, Sibiu ranked 5th with 45,699 votes from 192 countries worldwide.

Over 60% of the votes cast for Sibiu came from outside Romania, which indicates good international visibility for the city.

Thus, Sibiu will hold the title of European Best Destination in 2021 as well, alongside recognized tourist cities in Europe: Rome, Florence, Paris, Vienna, Capri, the Canary Islands, the Dordogne Valley, Kefalonia, Braga, or Kotor.
