Low-cost airline Ryanair Holdings PLC announced that it intends to transport 200 million passengers per year in 2024 and wants to control over 20% of the short-haul flight market in Europe. The airline currently holds a market share of about 15% in Europe.
Additionally, Ryanair announced it will extend the service life of 40 aircraft to bring its Boeing 737 fleet to 585 units by 2024.
In the first six months of the current fiscal year, Ryanair recorded a net profit of 1.17 billion EUR.
Ryanair also announced that by February it will reward its shareholders with 550 million EUR through share buyback programs.
In Romania, the low-cost airline operates flights on 21 routes and estimates that in 2017 it will transport over 1.9 million passengers in Romania, an increase of over 30% compared to 2016.
