The Ministry of Economy, Digitalization, Entrepreneurship and Tourism (MEDAT) is carrying out a tourism promotion campaign for Romania in Doha, the capital of Qatar, from 21-27 July.
This initiative benefits from free advertising exposure provided by Dooha Media, a Qatari company specializing in digital outdoor and mall advertising. The partnership was established following discussions held at international tourism fairs earlier this year, marking an important step in strengthening Romania’s presence in the Gulf region tourism markets.
Marian Văduva, MEDAT advisor, emphasized that this campaign represents a significant opportunity for Romanian tourism. Given the context of Qatar’s rapid economic expansion and the presence of numerous multinational companies, the promotion of Romania in high visibility spaces targets both the local public and the large expat community. Marian Văduva explained that this free exposure opportunity, negotiated at FITUR Madrid, is particularly valuable, especially in the context of direct flights Bucharest-Doha.
The videos promoting Romania, created by Charlie Ottley and owned by MEDAT, will be shown on the outdoor curved screens of Tawar Mall (one of the largest shopping malls in Qatar) during the weekend, and on the ICONO screen, located in one of the busiest intersections in Doha, throughout the week.
The main objectives of the campaign include increasing Romania’s international visibility as a tourist destination, stimulating the interest of tourists from the Gulf region and generating new opportunities for collaboration between Romanian tourism stakeholders and international agencies. This action is all the more relevant, given that Romania has not had a national stand at exhibition events in the Gulf region since 2019.
