National program “Eco-Tourist Compass” launched

The town of Trebujeni, located in the heart of the “Orheiul Vechi” Cultural-Natural Reserve, hosted the official launch of the “Eco-Touristic Compass” program. This strategic initiative, held at the agro-pension “Casa din Luncă”, aims to develop and promote sustainable rural tourism in the Republic of Moldova.

The program, which will run from July to November 2025, provides direct support to 20 rural entrepreneurs. They will benefit from specialized training sessions in sustainable tourism, one-to-one mentoring with international experts, support in branding and promotion of services, and access to funding opportunities through project competitions.

The first training module, scheduled from 21 to 24 July, is led by Łukasz Długowski, a recognized Polish expert in eco-tourism and trainer at Rewilding Europe. Topics covered include developing authentic micro-experiences, adapting European models to the local context and building sustainable relationships with visitors.

With this launch, the Orheiul Vechi area consolidates its pioneering role in promoting responsible tourism and ecological initiatives, contributing significantly to the economic diversification of the Moldovan countryside.

“Eco-Tourist Compass” is implemented with the support of a strong alliance, which includes the Ministry of Culture, the National Tourism Office, HumanDoc, InnoVillage, Orheiul Vechi Cultural-Natural Reserve, the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Chisinau, Polish Aid Moldova, Eko App Moldova, Farmecul Nistrului LAG and the National Network for Rural Development LEADER.
